Business Development Manager (Optical Communication)


Job Description
As Business Development Manager you will be part of the business unit New Business which is responsible for developing new products and markets for the company. This includes defining and managing R&D projects. Based on our expertise with optical instruments we are extending this business to optical communication for space applications. In this challenging position you will be responsible of ensuring that the technology developments in the field of optical communication lead to viable commercial products for customers (e.g. SatCom operators). You will be connecting the company with the market and other stakeholders such as other Airbus companies and Dutch research institutes, both as customer and as potential partner. Hence, you will be following new developments within the market, which you are able to judge with regard to their relevance to our (future) products. You will introduce our products to (potential) customers and you are able to identify the customers’ needs and key requirements. You will work with knowledgeable people in the company to propose adequate solutions to these needs and define successful products. Further, you will investigate potential (financial) co-operation with (inter)national partners. In short: you will bring new optical communication products to the market.

Functie-eisen

You have completed a relevant higher education supplemented by more than 10 years of relevant working experience in the field of developing high quality and complex products, preferably in the international aerospace, optics, satellite operations or telecom industry. You have proven knowledge and experience in a high tech environment in similar roles with multidisciplinary teams. You are competent in English, both spoken and in writing. Control of French language is considered an advantage. You recognize yourself in the following competency profile: Result-oriented, Customer-oriented, Entrepreneurial, Innovative, Strong networker, High analytical ability, Good communicator, and Good negotiator.
