Our project managers and engineers are located in offices in Brazil, China, India, the Netherlands, Sweden and the USA. Your mission is to realize successful capex projects from initiation up to Mechanical Completion (MC) and handing over to operations for Commissioning and Start Up (CSU). You coordinate and oversee the overall project (s) budget always with a relentless and determined focus on HSE&S. As such, this is a position for candidates who offer strategic and conceptual vision alongside the perseverance necessary to keep the execution of the project on track, within budget ensuring dedicated quality and sustainable solutions.
In your role it is essential that you understand the people and execute talent reviews, ensure succession and support employees in their current and future roles and development. You pick up long term customers’ needs and translate them into proposals to stimulate development of the team and the organization.

The role and its responsibilities
As Team Leader you lead a team with engineers of several disciplines and construction management, a total group of 8 – 15 employees. You represent the local team to Site Management of Industrial Chemicals, Rotterdam-Botlek.
This is a position and role with a high degree of autonomy for mono-disciplinary or multidisciplinary projects (overall budget about 10-30 million euros) in which you formulate the project plan, manage scope, budget, planning and adhere to the Large Project Management stage gate approach in all phases. For each phase the project needs active acquirement of approval.
Once approval is gained, you:
Manage linkages to other projects, project execution, coordinating and monitoring all project activities (engineering, estimating, and planning), reporting on technical part and progress, arranging construction management and supervision, supporting the selection and assignment of the CSU team, analyzing and mitigating risks and ensuring appropriate staffing is in place.
At all times you strive for an efficient project approach involving multiple parties; you work with external contractors, in consultation with engineers and procurement involved. Thus you should have proven experience with the Front End Loading (FEL) part of a project and in delegating and outsourcing (mono and multidiscipline) engineering.
Projects also require you to build, maintain and utilize a network of in- and external multiple (groups of) stakeholders/partners on a tactical/strategic level, to manage conflicting interests and uncertainties, and to represent the project within the organization.
Further, you ensure compliance and archive project documents, and hand over documents and data to operations to support and to enable asset management and maintenance.
At all times you keep stakeholders informed on project progress, alerting them to bottlenecks and your solutions and proposals in terms of costs and time. Upon project completion and closure you perform a detailed evaluation, identifying and analyzing lessons learned and defining improvements to sharpen people and project management skills, systems and tools.

As an experienced Project Manager and Team Leader you are responsible for People Management and Development. Thus you develop, manage and motivate project team members via feedback, performance reviews and succession planning. You also promote training and development. Based on strategy and the operational plan you realize the (department/team) objectives by using capabilities of your team.
You are based at our site at Rotterdam-Botlek, the Netherlands. All of this requires you to build, maintain and utilize a sustainable and accessible network of in- and external stakeholders/partners, and to represent the project within the organization.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s level qualification, preferably in Electrical Engineering;
• At least 5 years of experience of chemical plant projects, incorporating several different roles within multiple units, disciplines, and locations;
• Strong strategic and conceptual skills and the ability to execute and follow through;
• Able to drive the Continuous Improvement of processes, policies and standards;
• Extensive people management skills;
• Based in the Rotterdam Botlek area;
• It is essential that you speak fluent Dutch in order to interact with the shop floor, but English language skills are also important.
