Drive continuous improvement for a leading global organization
AkzoNobel’s Industrial Chemicals (IC) business unit (BU) produces and markets high purity salt, chlorine, caustic lye, hydrochloric acid, chloromethanes and monochloroacetic acid (MCA). These products are essential to daily life and used in the manufacture of vehicles, glass, performance plastics, pharmaceuticals, feed and foodstuffs, textiles and disinfectants. IC has a global presence with plants and joint ventures in the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, China and Japan.
Key to the ongoing success of IC is continuous improvement in terms of operational and organizational excellence. Thus we apply Lean Six Sigma (L6S) methodology in order to create customer value and motivate engaged employees to suggest and facilitate improvements. Within this context, your mission in this role is to act as a full-time L6S project leader, responsible for driving and implementing these processes.
Is this a role that matches your skills and ambitions? Are you eager to become knowledgeable and highly skilled in the use of L6S methodologies and tools, as well as in facilitation and change/project management? Do you have a solid manufacturing or commercial background? Are you analytical, innovative, open minded, data and result driven? Above all, can you act as a transformative team leader and team player within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment? Are you the one who can make a difference?
If you offer all this and more, we invite you to apply for the position of
CI Expert / Black Belt
This is a high profile role in which you operate as part of a central team of 15 L6S Black Belts. Reporting into the Master Black Belt, you will embark an extensive Black Belt training and certification program, including execution of key manufacturing or business projects directly influencing the overall performance of the BU. It is also a varied and ever changing role in which you work across geographic, functional and business boundaries with associated high-level exposure to BU leadership.
Your core responsibility is to lead, inspire and work with teams of subject matter experts in order to drive improvements in processes and results to meet IC’s strategic objectives.
As such, this is an endlessly challenging and fascinating opportunity in which team dynamics, the constantly changing work environment, and a comprehensive internal training program all combine to provide an outstanding framework in which to develop within AkzoNobel.
To apply for this position you should possess all the following attributes:
- A Master’s qualification, preferably in a ‘technical’ direction: Engineering, Masters of Business Administration (Technical) or equivalent;
- Between three and eight years of relevant working experience; for instance in an international manufacturing environment;
- Mature personality, proven and adaptive influencing skills;
- Risk taker, challenger and active listener who can inspire others to (out)perform;
- Affinity towards data analysis and statistical modelling;
- Ability to think out-of-the-box and challenge others on status quo;
- Hands-on mentality with a strong drive to deliver business outcomes;
- Willing and able to travel;
A high standard of written and spoken English, with German a significant advantage.
Should your qualifications meet our requirements, you will be invited to take an online assessment, the results of which will determine whether you continue to the interview round. In the interview we will meet you in person to learn more about your personality. This also provides an opportunity for you to learn more about us. The last step in the process will be a personal and professional assessment day. During this day you will complete a series of exercises that relate to the role of future Black Belt at AkzoNobel.
