You will be positioned at the Department of Molecular Genetics and will work in research teams that address various aspects of the DNA damage response at the molecular, cellular and physiological level. The position involves designing novel pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) (genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic) and proteomics data which includes, among others, RNA-Seq, CHIP-seq, Hi-C, quantitative proteomics and CRISPR-Cas9 screening technologies. The research focus of the department is to understand how cells or other biological systems cope with DNA damage in the context of cancer and aging. You will be involved in several projects in close collaboration with molecular and cellular biologists.
You hold a PhD degree and are proficient in R and common-line languages as well as be acquainted with analyzing bulk- and single-cell sequencing data with profound understanding of mathematical and statistical approaches behind each analysis methods. Your are capable of generating new mathematical models to address different challenges and scenarios in the biological samples. Furthermore, a strong command of (scientific) English in speech and writing is essential, proven by publications in international journals and presentations at international meetings.
Being able to present a certificate of good conduct, a valid proof of identity, diploma's and/ or relevant registration such as BIG/ RGS are conditions for the appointment.
ConditionsWe initially offer a one year contract with the possibility of an extension depending on performance. The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 4.361,-(scale 10) depending on your level of education and relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Medical Centers (CAO UMC).
