Functieomschrijving

The group of Prof. dr. Geert Kops currently has a vacancy for a Postdoc to work on the role of chromosomal instability in cancer.

Description of the project:
Approximately 70% of all human tumors are aneuploid, which strongly correlates with tumor grade, metastasis and poor patient prognosis. One of the possible causes for aneuploidy is chromosomal instability (CIN): frequent gains and losses of whole chromosomes during cell division. We have recently shown that CIN can be highly oncogenic, depending on the severity of CIN and on the affected tissue. The underlying mechanisms are however still unknown. The candidate will work on a KWF-funded project (granted to and supervised by Dr. Nannette Jelluma) in which a mouse model of CIN is used to investigate the mechanisms underlying the oncogenic properties of CIN in intestinal cancer.

Functie-eisen

We are looking for a Postdoc who is highly motivated, flexible and works well both independently and in a team. The candidate should have a PhD degree and a strong interest in cancer biology. The candidate should be experienced in working with rodents, and is preferably Art. 9 certified. A proven publication track record is a must. Written and oral fluency in English is essential.

Conditions

According to “CAO-Nederlandse Universiteiten” (CAO-NU), depending on experience scale 10 excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% year-end bonus. We offer an extensive package of fringe benefits.
