Assistant Professor Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Are you interested in performing innovative basic/early translational research within the Gastroenterology and Hepatology department? We are looking for an assistant professor with his/her own independent line of research and experience in education and supervision of PhD students.

As an assistant professor within the Gastroenterology-Hepatology department you will further expand your independent line of research. To accomplish this you will acquire external funding and will be responsible for (co-)supervision of PhD- and internship students and participate in education for (bio)medical sciences students. Furthermore, you will collaborate with the clinical principal investigators to further develop translational research questions into novel projects. Advancement to associate professor level is possible, when the candidate meets the requirements.
· You are a talented researcher with your own independent basic research line in inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases or oncology
· You have acquired your own funding in the past and have experience with supervising a PhD student as project leader
· You will supervise PhD students, and participate in education for (bio)medical sciences students
You are a team player with a pro-active attitude, and committed to building long term research lines
We are looking for someone with a background in biomedical/biopharmaceutical sciences, or alternatively someone with a medical degree/PhD in basic science and current research line in basic science (limited clinical duties). Your own independent line of research should fit the overall theme of the research lab (stromal cells in gastrointestinal/liver diseases), and you will preferably have experience with basic/early translational gastrointestinal/hepatology research (or related). Next to that you have at least 1 completed PhD student as (co-) supervisor and 1 ongoing PhD student as project leader on an own grant. Furthermore, you should be motivated to support our clinical PI’s with translational research questions.
For this position we want someone who is pro-active, a real team player, and committed to building a strong research line. Your English is fluent, both in writing and in speech.
Experience with techniques like advanced animal models, 3-dimensional cell culture models, immunological techniques (FACS/CyTOF), analysis of big data sets (e.g. sequencing, imaging CyTOF) would be considered an advantage.
You will be employed on the basis of 36 hours per week. Your salary is based on your education and experience and is a maximum of € 6,122 gross per month for a full time position (scale 12 in the Collective Labour Agreement for University Hospitals).
