PhD Candidate “A computational framework for precision medicine of hereditary melanoma and pancreatic cancer”
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate for a fully funded PhD project at the Leiden Center for Computational Oncology. You will conduct research at the Department of Dermatology and Department of Cell and Chemical Biology. The studies are aimed at identifying targets for treatment and prevention of tumors caused by CDKN2A inactivation, that develop in patients with hereditary melanoma and pancreatic cancer.

As a PhD candidate, you will work on the project “A computational framework for precision medicine of hereditary melanoma and pancreatic cancer”. You will obtain and analyze genomic, proteomic, metabolomic data from tumors and tumor cell lines, also employing genetic and pharmacological screens. You will work together with a computational biologist to generate in silico models for tumors based on omics data in a multidisciplinary, collaborative setting as member of the recently established Leiden Center for Computational Oncology.

· You will perform functional genetic studies and analyze various omics data from tumors and tumor cell lines
You hold an MSc degree in biomedical sciences, life sciences and technology, systems biology, bioinformatics or similar area. It is essential that you have molecular biological experience and have an interest in functional genomics and computational biology. We are looking for someone who wants to develop molecular cell biological as well as computational skills as an independent researcher in cancer genomics.
As a PhD candidate, you will be appointed for the duration of four years. Your salary is a maximum of € 2,495 in the first year, amounting to a maximum of € 3,196 in the final year (scale PhD students, Collective Labour Agreement University Medical Centers).
