PhD Candidate/Postdoc Chemical Biology
The Department of Cell and Chemical Biology of the LUMC is looking for a PhD candidate or postdoc to conduct research on post-translational modifications (PTM) of cellular proteins. If this appeals to you, you might be the candidate we are looking for.
- Albinusdreef, Leiden, Zuid-Holland
- Tijdelijk contract / Tijdelijke opdracht
- Uren per week:
- 36 uur
- € 2422 - € 4481 per maand
The localization and activity of cellular proteins is regulated by dynamic post-translational modifications. It turns out these modifications are also modified themselves, leading to a novel hidden layer of control. You, together with a team of other researchers, will aim to develop chemical tools to study these complex processes in detail. You will design and prepare conjugates of synthetic protein and small reactive molecules and validate their activity on (recombinant) enzymes.
You have finished an academic study in (organic) chemistry, biochemistry or a similar direction. When applying as a postdoc, you have also finished a PhD in a similar area. You have a strong interest in chemical biology and have experience with research in these fields. In addition, you have experience with synthesis of small molecules and simple biochemical experiments and are able to manage a research project from its design to its execution and interpretation of results. You collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment and, thus, are able to communicate well in English. As a postdoc, we expect you to be able to also supervise and coach other researchers.
You will work 36 hours per week. As a PhD candidate, you will be appointed for the duration of your studies, to be finished with a doctoral thesis, and for a maximum of four years. Your salary is a maximum of € 2,422 gross per month is the first year amounting to a maximum of € 3,103 gross per month in the final year, based on a fulltime position (scale Pro of the collective labor agreement of the University Medical Centers).
As a postdoc, you will be appointed for a maximum of three years. Your salary is based on your experience and qualifications and amounts to a maximum of € 4,481 gross per month based on a fulltime position (scale 10 of the collective labor agreement of the University Medical Centers).
