As Postdoc in the Department of Internal Medicine/Nephrology you will join the Islet lab that is focused on the development of novel approaches for beta-cell replacement therapy as part of the RegMedXB initiative.
You will be responsible for the optimization of a differentiation protocol to generate functional beta-cells from human pluripotent stem cells for translation to the clinic. You will be expected to supervise research technicians and develop your own line of research within the scope of the Islet lab. In addition, you will be involved in the isolation of human pancreatic islets for transplantation within a GMP environment contributing to the current clinical islet transplantation program in our institute. Islets and non-islet tissue that cannot be used for transplantation can often be used for research purposes.
You hold a PhD degree in a relevant field, such as biology or biomedical sciences, and have expertise in the culture and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hESC, hiPSC). Preference will be given to candidates with experience in beta-cell differentiation protocols and you should be able to work independently as part of our dynamic team. Irregular working hours are part of the position.
You will be employed on the basis of a 36-hour week. Appointment is for 1 year, possibly to be extended to up to three years. The salary will depend on your qualifications and experience, with a maximum of € 4,361 gross per month based on a full time position (scale 10 of the Collective Labor Agreement for University Hospitals).
