Functieomschrijving

Within the Industrial Partnership Programme ee have an opening for a postdoc in the NMR group at Wageningen University to develop NMR/MRI methods to study food biopolymer networks. Emphasis will be on methods that assess network formation under dynamic conditions such as stress or shear. Advanced RheoMRI methods will be deployed to study shear-banding phenomena under conditions relevant for industrial food processing. Complementary structural descriptors of biopolymer network will be derived from PFG NMR (nanoparticle) diffusometry. The work will be carried out using 300, 600 and 700 MHz NMR spectrometers, equipped with high-performance PFG, (rheo)MRI and HRMAS capabilities. The postdoc will collaborate with PhD students employed within the Industrial Partnership Programme and engage closely with industry.

Functie-eisen

The candidate should have an MSc degree (or the equivalent) in Physics or Physical Chemistry, with a background in nuclear magnetic resonance techniques applied to structure-function relationships of materials. Experience with magnetic resonance imaging and/or diffusometry would be an advantage.

Conditions

NWO-I, the Institutes Organisation of NWO, prefers candidates who have qualifying experience (e.g. as PhD student or postdoctoral researcher) in a scientific research institute abroad.

You will be employed by NWO-I for a fixed period of two years. Your salary will be up to a maximum of 4,089 euro gross per month, depending on your level of experience. The salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8 percent and an end-of-year bonus of 8.33 percent. The conditions of employment of NWO-I are laid down in the Collective Labour Agreement for Research Centres (Cao-Onderzoekinstellingen), more exclusive information is available at this website under Personeelsinformatie (in Dutch) or under Personnel (in English).
