The Department of Biophysics at the Science Faculty of Radboud University is seeking a postdoc for a term of 35 months, starting fall 2017, to perform research within the national STW-Perspective programme NeuroCIMT. You will work in close collaboration with a PhD candidate who is also engaged in the NeuroCIMT programme, and with clinical researchers from the Otolaryngology department at the Radboud university medical center. You will the prime contact for the hearing-aid industrial partner within the project. Your work will involve developing, implementing and testing an automated neurofeedback system for hearing-impaired listeners (‘OtoControl’), which aims to optimise their hearing devices and auditory performance. Your duties will be diverse and will include: contributing to experimental design, performing advanced EEG analysis in patients, collaborating with our industrial partner’s engineers and staff, publishing scientific papers, and presenting your work at international conferences.
- you have a PhD degree in biophysics, electrical or biomedical engineering, neuroinformatics, or a related field, with ample experience in signal analysis, systems identification or EEG analysis;
- you are self-motivated, proactive, and able to operate independently in a multidisciplinary team;
- you have strong communication skills, and a fluent command of English.

Faculty of Science
The research activities within the Biophysics department (www.ru.nl/mbphysics/ ), led by Prof. John van Opstal, focus on a range of topics spanning neurocomputational modelling, vestibular and auditory perception, eye-head gaze-orienting in healthy subjects and patients, and visual psychophysics (Prof. R.J.A. van Wezel and Prof. R. van Ee). John van Opstal’s group is internationally recognised as one of the world-leading research groups in sensorimotor psychophysics. The department’s theoretical research (led by Prof. H.J. Kappen) focuses on deep learning/reinforcement learning in artificial neural networks, on fundamental theory and applications of Machine Learning techniques, and on Optimal Control for robotic systems.
All research at the Biophysics department is embedded in Radboud University’s Science Faculty and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour (DI).
