The two positions are in the field of International Relations with an emphasis on issue areas related to one of our six specialisations: International Political Economy, International Security, European Integration, Geopolitics & Connectivity, Globalisation Studies and Humanitarian Action and East Asian Studies. Candidates should be able to contribute to basic introductory courses in areas such as IR theory, history of IR, political science, international organization, political economy, statistics, European integration, and social science research methodologies.
The candidate ideally comes from an interdisciplinary background of which International Relations, Political Science, International Law or other social sciences are component parts.
The candidate's qualities are demonstrated by:
● a completed master programme or PhD in one of the relevant disciplines
● excellent demonstrable oral and written skills in English (C1 level)
● excellent social and communicative skills, flexibility and stress-resistance
● preferred experience in academic teaching, at various levels and in various formats.
ConditionsThe University of Groningen offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience starting from a minimum of € 2,588 to a maximum of € 4,084 (salary scale 10) gross per month according to the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, based on a full-time appointment, excluding 8% holiday pay and 8.3% end-of-year gratification and participation in a pension scheme for employees. The position is for 0.8 FTE and for a period of one or two years.
The starting date is 1 September 2018.
The selection procedure may include a lecture or presentation. The lecture and the interview will take place via Skype.
