Functieomschrijving

You will conduct and publish academic research along with teaching to contribute to the service mission of the Department. You will teach courses in the field of information systems, digital business and thesis supervision at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level.

You will be part of our department which comprises six Full Professors, eight Associate Professors and 20 Assistant Professors in addition to PhD students. We have a diverse department with more than 40% international staff and 37% female staff members. We cover a variety of interests and disciplinary backgrounds, and embrace various methodological approaches. We value research of both theoretical significance and practical relevance. We maintain a regular speaker series with guest speakers from leading institutions around the world, recently including Bocconi University, Cornell University, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Imperial College London, and London Business School among others. Most of our research support and generous conference funding is through our research school SOM. Our areas of research include innovation, strategy, information systems, organization studies, and entrepreneurship (see: www.rug.nl/feb/organization/scientific-departments/ims/). We participate actively in the Association of Information Systems and the International Conferences on Information Systems.

We contribute to programmes at bachelor’s, master’s, research master’s levels and to the PhD programme. We are also responsible for four Master of Science tracks: Change Management, Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Strategic Innovation Management, and Health Management & Economics. Would you like to work with us?

Functie-eisen

• you hold a PhD (or are in a process of getting it soon) in Information Systems or a closely related discipline
• you have a proven potential for conducting high quality research and publishing in top management/IS journals
• you have interest and ability in developing courses and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and in mentoring students
• you belong to an international network
• you work good within a team and possess good communication skills.

Conditions

The University of Groningen offers a salary in line with Dutch regulations depending on qualifications and work experience (https://www.vsnu.nl/en_GB/cao-universiteiten.html). Monthly salary is starting from a minimum of € 3,637 (salary scale 11) to a maximum of € 5,656 gross (scale 12) for a full-time position, including 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus and excluding participation in a pension scheme for employees.

Our tenure track positions are temporary positions subject to a tenure decision.
You will get an initial appointment for a period of seven years, on the condition of a positive mid-term evaluation before the end of the third year of employment. The seventh year is to compensate for any ‘life events’ (e.g. parental leave) which might take place during the first six years. Based on a positive final evaluation in the sixth year of your employment, you are granted a tenure and will be promoted to Associate Professor.

Your career path will continue and can lead to promotion to Full Professor, under the condition that you meet the requisite criteria. Formal Tenure track requirements primarily include criteria with respect to research prominence, teaching, and service.

We provide a fiscal facility pertaining to extraterritorial costs, the 30% facility, this may be applicable if the rules of Dutch tax law permit this, rendering part of your salary exempt from tax.

We are an equal opportunities employer. Because women are still under-represented in a number of fields, they are particularly encouraged to apply.

We would like you to start by August 2019.

Your application
You may apply for this position until 14 March 23:59h / before 15 March 2019 Dutch local time by means of the application form (click on "Apply" below on the advertisement on the university website).

You are requested to submit:
1. A cover letter containing your motivation for the position
2. An up-to-date curriculum vitae
3. Two letters of reference
4. Two examples of publications and/or working papers
5. Evidence of teaching ability (e.g. summarized teaching evaluations).

Based on the application, you might be invited for a campus visit shortly after the deadline.

Unsolicited marketing is not appreciated.
