The new tenure track Assistant Professor is expected to strengthen the position of the Department of Marketing, primarily in the areas of quantitative modelling, retailing and/or digital marketing. Therefore, we seek candidates who are committed to excellence in research and teaching. We are looking for high-potential candidates with the ability to publish their work in international top marketing journals. Research time is 50% during the tenure track period and afterwards allocated according to regular faculty procedures (comparable to US research schools). Teaching by the assistant professor will contribute to the overall teaching load of the Department of Marketing. Specific educational tasks will depend on the expertise of the candidate.
• PhD in Marketing or a related discipline
• the candidate is an excellent researcher and author of publications in international top journals in the area of Marketing or a related discipline
• excellent teaching skills
• relevant international academic network
• organizational qualities and excellent communication skills
• active involvement in obtaining external funding for research projects.
These requirements are related to the duties of an Assistant Professor within the Department of Marketing.
The University of Groningen offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience starting from a minimum of € 3,475 gross per month (salary scale 11 Dutch Universities) to a maximum of € 5,405 gross per month (salary scale 12) for a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees. A fiscal facility pertaining to extraterritorial costs, the 30% facility, may be applicable if the rules of Dutch tax law permit this. The vacancy is a full-time position at the level of Assistant Professor.
The new Assistant Professor will be appointed initially for a period of seven years, on the condition of a positive mid-term evaluation at the end of the third year of employment. The seventh year is intended to compensate for any ‘life events’ (e.g. prolonged illness or parental leave) which might take place during the first six years. Based on a positive final evaluation, tenure will be granted.
Selected applicants will be interviewed by Skype initially. This year, we will not interview candidates during the August 2018 AMA Summer Marketing Educators’ Conference. Next, a number of candidates will be invited to present a job market seminar in Groningen, in the fall of 2018.
