Sime Darby Oils (SDO) is an international trader and processor of vegetable oils and fats for the food, animal feed and the technical industries in Europe, Africa and Asia. As part of Sime Darby Plantation, we have a global reputation for being a leader in our field, with a rich history of innovation, leading sustainability credentials and a world class customer base. Sime Darby Plantation is the world’s largest producer of certified sustainable palm oil and our SDO portfolio in Europe includes all the major oils and fats types. Our European footprint includes refining and modification operations in Zwijndrecht, Netherlands and Liverpool, UK. The current sales activities and product range encompass the entire European marketplace and major food sectors including, bakery, non-dairy, confectionary, frying as well as technical applications.

You will be part of the Sales team (around 10 colleagues, you will primarily be based in our European head office in Zwijndrecht, Netherlands but will involve some international travel, mainly within Europe.

What does your job as Account Manager entail?

  • Understanding customer needs and translating these needs into business opportunities;
  • Selling the broad range of specialized products Sime Darby Oils has to offer;
  • Contract negotiation and closer, including frame and long-term commercial agreements;
  • Grow revenue for the company by growing business with existing and new customers;
  • Develop long term relationships with customers;
  • Administrate your sales activities and create reports to give insights about the results;
  • Understand customers business beyond just their commercial needs;
  • Analyze market data, create and execute sales forecasts.

To succeed in this role, we expect you to be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven sales experience within commodity sector (ie selling products and capacity within a volatile pricing environment);
  • Experience in working within a multi-national sales team;
  • Being a skilled negotiator with major buying groups;
  • Eager to learn about the intricacies of the oils and fats market;
  • Knowledge of SAP is essential and having advanced knowledge of spreadsheet programmes such as Excel (eg. creating formulas, pivot tables) would be major advantage.

What are your capabilities as an Account Manager?

  • Educated ideally to Degree level but other applicants could be considered if they have a proven track record of success in this field;
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the food industry or process industry;
  • Advanced level in Excel and SAP would be preferred;
  • You are fluent in English (written and spoken). Other languages would be an advantage.

Besides these we are looking for someone who is: self-motivated, customer focused, analytical, commercially driven and with excellent communication and team skills.
