The successful candidate will conduct internationally-recognised Artificial Intelligence research in the field of data-driven algorithmic decision making or automated planning and scheduling, supervise PhD and MSc research students in the field, acquire external research funding, teach and develop new education at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Computer Science, and perform department and university management tasks. The candidate is expected to actively collaborate with other researchers from academia as well as industry to realise this ambition.
Relevant topics of research include, but are not limited to, the development of machine learning techniques in combination with advanced algorithmic techniques for decision-making problems occurring in transportation, energy, and health domains; the intersection of data-driven and knowledge-based planning for these domains; and the explanation of data-driven single- and multi-agent planning decisions. Candidates working on related challenges in AI-driven decision making are also welcome to apply.
The successful candidate has obtained a PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Operations Research or related field; has research ability as demonstrated through a strong publication record in top-tier venues; and is an enthusiastic team player with the ambition to strengthen and expand the research of the Algorithmics group. Preferably, the candidate has experience in providing education at the university level, and has demonstrated the ability to obtain research funding through the acquisition of national or international research projects.
At the start of the tenure-track you will be appointed as Assistant Professor for the duration of six years. Section leader, department leaders and you will agree upon expected performance and (soft) skills. You will receive formal feedback on performance and skills during annual assessment meetings and the mid-term evaluation. If the performance and skills are evaluated positively at the end of the tenure track, you will be appointed in a permanent Assistant Professor position.
