The department of Electrical Sustainable Energy is offering a tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor within the PVMD group with focus on Photovoltatronics. The digitization of the electrical energy system requires intelligent autonomous components. Endowing components of photovoltaic systems with intelligence requires combining photovoltaic technology with micro- and power-electronics, sensors, energy storage, wireless communication and computer science. The candidate will contribute to courses on energy conversion, physics of semiconductors and electric devices, and system engineering. This position is intended to strengthen our research line in Digital Power Systems.
Candidates should have (1) a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with outstanding academic credentials, (2) several years of working experience as a Postdoctoral Researcher in an academic institution, and (3) the ambition to be a future scientific leader in the area of Photovoltatronics.
An excellent academic track record reflected by publications in the leading international journals is required. You should have a demonstrated ability to initiate and direct research projects and to obtain external funding. Experience in teaching and mentoring is considered an advantage. You also have an open personality and good communication skills. Demonstrated ability in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of the Dutch language is an advantage.
At the start of the tenure-track you will be appointed as Assistant Professor for the duration of six years. Section leader, department leaders and you will agree upon expected performance and (soft) skills. You will receive formal feedback on performance and skills during annual assessment meetings and the mid-term evaluation. If the performance and skills are evaluated positively at the end of the tenure track, you will be appointed in a permanent Assistant Professor position.
