We invite applications for both junior (tenure-track) and senior faculty positions. Research in the Department of Bionanoscience is aimed at a quantitative, mechanistic understanding of how interactions at the nanoscale lead to biological function at the cellular scale. Current research activities include single-molecule biophysics, nanotechnology, synthetic biology, and cell biology. We welcome applications in the entire range from nanophysics to synthetic and cell biology to complement and strengthen our current activities. Attractive start-up packages are offered at all levels of seniority.
A Tenure Track, a process leading up to a permanent appointment with the prospect of becoming an Associate or full Professor, offers young, talented academics a clear and attractive career path. During the Tenure Track, you will have the opportunity to develop into an internationally acknowledged and recognised academic. We offer a structured career and personal development programme designed to offer individual academics as much support as possible. For more information about the Tenure Track and the personal development programme, please visit www.tudelft.nl/tenuretrack.
We seek group leaders with an outstanding scientific track record, researchers with a creative and collaborative mentality who appreciate scientific and engineering challenges in quantitative life sciences and who through their research, management skills, and teaching qualities can inspire co-workers and students alike. Successful candidates are expected to establish a strong, externally funded research programme and to be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate (Dutch or English) and graduate level (English). We especially welcome applications from female scientists. Applicants should hold a PhD. Dutch language skills are not required.
Delft University of Technology (the TU Delft) is a multifaceted institution offering education and carrying out research in the technical sciences at an internationally recognised level. Education, research and design are strongly oriented towards applicability. The TU Delft develops technologies for future generations, focusing on sustainability, safety and economic vitality. At the TU Delft you will work in an environment where technical sciences and society converge. The TU Delft comprises eight faculties, unique laboratories, research institutes and schools. Applied Sciences The Department of Bionanoscience, part of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Delft University of Technology and part of the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience Delft (www.kavli.nl), is dedicated to pioneering, fundamental research at the interface between physics and biology. This young, international department was established in 2010 and has since expanded to currently 15 faculty members. The department offers excellent general facilities, including a central optical microscopy facility, a cryo-EM facility, extensive general cell biology and biochemistry facilities, and a large cleanroom facility, the Kavli Nanolab Delft. The Department strives for a collegial, nourishing, and inclusive environment. Since 2012, together with the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Department runs a Bachelor and Master program in Nanobiology, which provides a thorough combined training in biology and physics.
