The rise of Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming product innovation, design and development. Technologies such as machine learning, machine perception and planning create tremendous opportunities for intelligent products and services, and open perspectives for Artificial Intelligence-enabled design methods and development processes.

The Design Engineering Department, part of the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, is seeking a new chair in Artificial Intelligence and Design who can drive a technology-focused, design-oriented research agenda at the intersection of design, intelligent systems and AI. Topics of particular interest are human-centered intelligent systems, intelligent user interfaces, AI methods in design, and responsible and trustworthy AI.

The main tasks of the Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Design will be to lead and contribute to the domain described above through research and education. In particular, the Professor is expected to lead the development of an AI research and teaching infrastructure covering data, algorithm and system aspects and be actively involved in curriculum development and teaching at both the bachelor and master levels.

The Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Design will be embedded in the ‘Intelligence’ cluster of the Design Engineering Department and will be expected to develop close working relationship with the chair of Internet of Things.
