Tijdelijk contract / Tijdelijke opdracht

€ 2395 - € 3061 per maand

We are looking for a highly motivated student with biophysics research experience to join the Joo lab. To understand biological processes and diseases, it is critical to decode the cellular language of proteins. This ranges from reading the amino acid sequence of proteins and their modifications, to examining their folding, abundance and interactions. Although great progress in proteomics research has been made in the last decades, resolving the proteome in all its facets remains an enormous challenge in biology. The selected candidate will take a lead in developing a novel single-molecule protein sequencing tool. To this end, the candidate will use single-molecule fluorescence and other nanotechnology platform.

The candidate should have an MSc degree in the field of physics, chemistry, or biology. An application from a candidate who is experienced in biophysics will be favorably treated, but this is not a requirement. Good communication skills in English are required.

TU Delft offers PhD-candidates a 4-year contract, with an official go/no go progress assessment after one year. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, increasing from € 2395 per month in the first year to € 3061 in the fourth year. As a PhD candidate you will be enrolled in the TU Delft Graduate School.
