We are presently recruiting a PhD student to pursue their four year doctorate working on quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the newly founded Magnetic Resonance Systems (Mars) Lab at TU Delft. The PhD student will be responsible for an own research line that aims at development of novel acquisition schemes to unlock previously un-detectable imaging biomarkers with quantitative MRI. This project will comprise a strong modeling and sequence development part and will be carried out with mentoring and close guidance by the senior lab members. The successful candidate will join a young and dynamic group in a prolific, creative and fun environment. The PhD student will also be involved in other ongoing research projects at the lab including reconstruction projects. At advanced stages the PhD student will have the opportunity to take mentoring responsibility for students at the bachelor’s and master’s level. The primary infrastructure for MRI research at the Mars lab is a state-of-the art Philips 3T scanner located in a local clinical research center with substantial scan time dedicated to our lab for research purposes. Select studies will also be performed with other scanners of national collaboration partners.


The formal requirement for the position is a MSc degree in Physics, Math, Computer Science or a related discipline. Furthermore, drive, curiosity and passion for research are the most valued attributes to join our lab. Prior experience in biomedical imaging and MRI are desirable, but outstanding candidates with diverse backgrounds will also be considered. Communication in our lab is in English and written and spoken English proficiency is a prerequisite.
