We are looking for a PostDoc who will work on quantitative integral planning and systems engineering theory that can be used by infrastructure managers in design of innovative replacement projects for interconnected infrastructures.
The research is part of a research project that focuses on managing of interconnected infrastructures (e.g. road, water, energy). The PostDoc will have unique access to cases of interconnected infrastructure replacement projects of large Dutch infrastructure managers within the D-to-MII research project. As a key part of the research, the PostDoc will work on-site with these partners where experts from ongoing cross-infrastructural replacement projects meet in a community-of-practice (CoP). The PostDoc will connect theoretical insights with their empirical expert data and insights.
The PostDoc candidate will be based in the Integral Design & Management group (IDM) of the Materials, Mechanics, Management & Design department. The candidate preferably has a quantitative modelling or simulation background, with a strong profile in modelling and simulation techniques such as e.g. systems dynamics or Serious Gaming. If the candidate would not have a specific background within the infrastructure domain, then he/she should be highly motivated to learn about this domain of interest.
The candidate should have an affinity with systems engineering and technology, and excellent social and communication skills. Programming skills would be highly recommended. Besides that the candidate has an excellent knowledge of the English language
