We are looking for a self-motivated postdoc with a strong interest to work in a flagship multidisciplinary project between Technical University Delft and Erasmus Medical Centre on a sub-cellular biopsy (SCSY), supported by the Convergence initiative.
The initiative stimulates collaboration between both the technical institute (TU Delft) and the medical institute (Erasmus MC) with the aim to address health related challenges.
The goal of this (SCSY) project is to understand the DNA repair mechanism in radiation therapy. The approach will be to enter the nucleus of cells using microfluidic atomic force microscopy cantilever and extract temporally formed organelles involved in repair of DNA damage.
The extracted sample will be subsequently analysed by cryo-electron microscopy and mass spectrometry.
The postdoc will collaborate with a peer-postdoc to be appointed in parallel at the Erasmus MC on the same project. The postdoc at Erasmus MC will do genomic engineering of appropriate cell lines expressing fluorescent DNA repair proteins in different genetic backgrounds to dissect distinct steps in DNA repair. The project will be executed in a multi-disciplinary team from Erasmus MC and TU Delft consisting of experts in Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, (Bio)mechanical Engineering, Microfabrication, Instrumentation, Electron Microscopy and Mass Spectrometry.
