Functieomschrijving

As part of the core team of EEE, you will play an important role in the educational programme of Electrical Engineering. Your tasks include:

  • Teaching duties in the Electrical Engineering Education group (EEE) (0,8 FTE):
    • main task: delivery of first-class educational experience to students in EE lab and project courses;
    • coordination of BSc Graduation Projects;
    • contribution to other instructional activities in BSc EE insofar as capacity permits;
    • contribution to other TU Delft programmes, driven by entrepreneurial attitude;
    • assessing/giving feedback on reports;
  • Carrying out research in one of the departments (0,2 FTE).

Department of Microelectronics, section of Electrical Engineering Education (EEE)
The Department of Microelectronics, headed by Professor Kofi Makinwa, has a strong interdisciplinary research and education programme in the areas of microelectronics, signal processing, microwave systems and radar.
With more than 11 IEEE Fellows, an excellent microfabrication infrastructure, electrical and physical characterization facilities, and a strong international academic and industrial network, the department is well equipped to conduct world-leading research. Microelectronics is a multi-disciplinary research field, involving innovative combinations of the physics, material science and chemistry required to make devices work. It is also multi-disciplinary with regard to its wide variety of applications, as it plays a crucial role in all fields of innovation, ranging from advanced health care to telecommunications and smart grids. The ever-increasing demand for processing power, sensing capabilities and miniaturisation makes microelectronics a highly innovative research field.
ME’s research is a major contributor to the following EEMCS research themes:

  • Health and Wellbeing
  • XG - Next Generation Sensing and communication
  • Safety and Security

The section Electrical Engineering Education is shared by the Department of Electrical and Sustainable Energy and the Department of Microelectronics, with a seizable contribution of the Department of Quantum Computing and Computer Engineering, but functionally falls under the Department of Microelectronics. The primary task of the Section is to anchor the hands-on education in the Electrical Engineering curriculum. The BSc-EE program has a range of practicals, aimed at training the students in real-world problem solving skills, teamwork, and reporting. Throughout the first two years of the BSc, a path is followed from close-guided semi-practicals to distance-guided projects without a predefined outcome, in the form of so-called EPOprojects. This then culminates in the third year in the BSc End Project, where teams of students work on a much more open-ended assignment (often defined by themselves as well).

The section consists of a number of teaching staff, as well as a number of technical support staff. The Section is responsible forrunning the Tellegen Hall, where students work on the practicals.

Functie-eisen

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering-field.
  • You have broad teaching skills with 3 years of lecturing experience.
  • You are competent in applying active learning strategies for education, and you are committed to excellence in teaching.
  • You are able to engage staff in innovative learning and teaching practices.
  • You have Basic Teaching Qualification.
  • Academic knowledge in the following areas is needed: analogue electronics, systems&control including high power and power devices.
