Delft University of Technology (the TU Delft) is a multifaceted institution offering education and carrying out research in the technical sciences at an internationally recognized level. Education, research and design are strongly oriented towards applicability. The TU Delft develops technologies for future generations, focusing on sustainability, safety and economic vitality. At the TU Delft you will work in an environment where technical sciences and society converge. The TU Delft comprises eight faculties, unique laboratories, research institutes and schools.
Industrial Design Engineering
The Department of Design Engineering aims at exploring and disseminating new research knowledge to the international scientific community as well as to its educational programmes at the bachelor, master and PhD levels. The focus is on incorporating new developments in advanced materials, novel manufacturing technologies, and hardware, software and cyberware technologies into products and services. Integration of expertise domains such as emerging materials, advanced mechatronics, Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, and digital manufacturing with sustainability and circular economy considerations raises complexities that are addressed with respect to both systems and processes.
The Assistant Professor position will be a member of the 'Internet of Things' research group which focuses on foundational methods and technologies for the design, development, and evaluation of data-intensive, context-aware products and services that use rich Internet of Things data to perceive, model, and adapt to their environment and users. This encompasses both technological innovation in Internet of Things systems and platforms as well as methodological innovations in data-intensive design applied to domains such as health, sports, transport, energy, and smart cities.
