PhD in super-resolution imaging of extracellular vesicles and nanoparticles
The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) has the following vacancy: PhD in super-resolution imaging of extracellular vesicles and nanoparticles within the department of Biomedical Engineering (BME).

We are searching for a young scientist who is interested to combine advance optical microscopy and nanoparticles. The function is part of the FET OPEN project MimicKey of Dr. Lorenzo Albertazzi. You will learn to use super-resolution microscopy and apply it to study both extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from cancer cell and synthetic nanoparticles.
The objective is to use advanced imaging methods such as STORM and PAINT super-resolution microscopy to better understand the structure and behavior of EVs and therefore design nanoparticles able to mimic their properties.
The project will benefit of international collaborations within the MimicKey consortium with groups active in the field of EVs isolation, nanomaterials synthesis, characterization and their clinical applications.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers a research driven BME Bachelor program and Masters Biomedical Engineering, Medical Sciences and Technology and Medical Engineering in its Graduate Program. Research areas range from Molecular Bioengineering and Imaging, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering to Biomedical Imaging and Modeling. The department has more than 800 students and up to 200 tenured and non-tenured employees.
About the Institute for Complex Molecular Systems (ICMS):
The Institute for Complex Molecular Systems is an interdisciplinary institute at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) which brings excellent researchers from different areas together to promote cross-breeding of ideas across disciplines in the departments Biomedical Engineering, Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are in an MSc program or who already have an MSc degree, preferably in Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or Nanotechnology. An interest in microscopy is required. Experience with nanoparticles or EVs study, quantitative optical imaging and image analysis would be an asset.
