Long distance electronic transport (LDET) and chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) are two extraordinary emergent electronic phenomena observed in nanostructured molecular materials. Presently the underlying physicochemical origin related to the mechanisms of the dynamics of excitations is not understood.
The aim of the project is to answer the fundamental question 'What is the relation between the chemical structure and architecture of molecular building blocks, their electronic structure, the local linking and packing, the large-scale morphology and the dynamics of electronic excitations giving rise to LDET and CISS?'. We develop a comprehensive set of multiscale computer simulation methods that allow for a bottom-up simulation of charge and exciton/energy dynamics in large-scale supramolecular materials in an unprecedented manner by combining techniques from computational chemistry, statistical physics, and mathematics.
a solid background in Computational Chemistry or Physics with specialization in quantum chemistry (density functional theory, GW-BSE, etc) or related areas (demonstrated by a relevant PhD);
a strong interest in method development and implementation (C++);
being enthusiastic about collaboration with experimentalists;
experience with localized orbital implementations of quantum chemistry;
hands on experience with multiscale modelling techniques in a plus.
We are looking for a candidate that meets the following requirements:
The Postdoc is expected to:perform scientific research in the domain described;
collaborate with other researchers in this project;
publish results in leading scientific journals and conferences in the field;
assist in guiding (project-related) PhD and MSc graduation projects.
Conditions of employment
We offer:A full time temporary appointment for a period of 1 year, with the possibility of an extension for another year (1+1 years). After approximately nine months an evaluation will be held by the supervisors to decide if the expected performance is sufficient in order to decide if the full contract period will be utilized.
A salary is offered between € 3.044 and € 3.997 gross per month (gross), depending on knowledge and experience (based on salary scale 10 CAO Dutch Universities).
A holiday allowance (8%, May), and end-of-year bonus (8.3%, December).
