About us:

The TU/e is a leading Dutch University of Technology with a strong focus on health, energy and mobility. Within the health area, several departments cooperate on subjects such as Regenerative Medicine and Engineering, Biomaterials, Molecular Imaging, Systems Biology, Biosensing, and Chemical Biology, with a close link to medical centers and industry. The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers Bachelor's and Master's programs in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Engineering and a joint Master's program in Regenerative Medicine and Technology together with Utrecht University.

Position description:

We are looking for a scientist with a strong background in cell biology and a proven track record in regenerative medicine thereby exploring biomaterial properties and interfaces. We are particularly interested in a candidate who will complement and strengthen our research and education with programs at the cross section of cell biology and screening of biointerfaces. The candidate will collaborate with scientists that specialize in biomaterials design and synthesis, in-vitro cell and tissue culture, cell mechanobiology and signalling, and computational modeling, to join forces in the development of next-generation material-based regenerative therapies. Affinity or experience with systems biology and/or machine learning protocols is a pre.

The senior scientist will be selected on the basis of scientific excellence, ability to attract research funding, potential to enhance and complement our current research, and capacity to strengthen our team with expertise in the area of cell biology in regenerative engineering and high throughput screening methods.

Tasks in Research:

You should be an ambitious, established researcher, with independent ideas, capable of working across disciplines and leading collaborative research. You should establish a high-profile line of research with international exposure and reputation.

Tasks in Education:

You will be expected to contribute to high quality education of a diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate levels of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Excellent communication skills and previous teaching experience are required. You will supervise MSc students, PhD candidates and Postdocs.

Functie-eisen

We are seeking an accomplished, senior scientist engaged in high impact research. You should have a PhD in cell biology, or a closely related discipline, with a proven track record in application in regenerative medicine or biomedical engineering.

You should be an authority in your own area of expertise, typically evidenced by a strong (inter)national network within the academic world and industry. You should be a true teamplayer with a collaborative/entrepreneurial spirit, engaged in interdisciplinary research. You should have experience in acquiring extramural funding for research projects and experience with various forms of teaching.
