Unhealthy eating habits have been shown to lead to major health impairments, such as obesity and coronary heart disease. An important risk factor for unhealthy eating is the experience of stress. Although a major source of stress in individuals’ daily life is their work, knowledge about the effects of work characteristics on eating behavior is still scarce. The goal of this Ph.D. project is to investigate the role of work demands and resources for (un)healthy eating behavior as well as the underlying psychological mechanisms and boundary conditions involved in these links. We are looking for a Ph.D. candidate with an interest in work and organizational as well as clinical psychology who is highly motivated and possesses excellent statistics skills. The Ph.D. student will work under the supervision of Dr. Ute Hülsheger, Dr. Annika Nübold (Department of Work and Social Psychology) and Dr. Sjaan Nederkoorn (Department of Clinical Psychological Science) at the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience at Maastricht University. The project combines expertise from both departments and requires interest in both areas, i.e., work demands and resources and eating behavior.
Very good Master’s degree in Psychology;
Excellent quantitative research and data analytic skills; experience with data analysis software beyond SPSS will be considered favorably (e.g. R, Matlab, Mplus)
Excellent scientific writing skills;
Excellent self-management skills and high levels of proactivity and conscientiousness
Demonstrable interest in work and organizational as well as eating behavior research;
High proficiency in English is expected; Dutch language skills are of advantage
Temporary employment for 4 years.
Your salary would be € 2.266,- gross per month in the first year up to € 2.897,- gross per month in the fourth year according to the PhD-student salary scale.
Each year an evaluation will take place.
