The Applied Multi-Modality Medical Imaging and Analysis (AMIA) group will specifically work on multimodality imaging methods for clinical decision support, and thus bridge fundamental sciences in optical imaging, ultrasound and magnetic detection to clinical applications including image-guided interventions. The Assistant Professor will thereby develop a specific research track on endovascular imaging using ultrasound with main applications in vascular and (minimally invasive) cardiac surgery. In addition to a good understanding of the physics of endovascular imaging, fluid dynamics, and data post-processing, you are particularly working on the translation of these methods as a solution to clinical problems. This includes technical and clinical validation studies, optimization of data acquisition to enhance meaningful clinical interpretation and co-development and testing of new modalities in collaboration with industry and clinical partners. It is expected you will acquire sufficient research funding (and personal grants) to hire PhD students and build on a small research group together with the senior staff in the AMIA group. The candidate will be appointed as either a post-doc or assistant professor, based on past research performance. Dependent on scientific progress, you may be eligible for promotion to assistant professor and /or entry in a tenure track faculty position.
