The Amsterdam School of Economics has a vacancy for a full Professor of Actuarial and Economic Aspects of Longevity who will be expected to do research, provide teaching and show scientific and organisational leadership for research efforts in that area.
What are you going to do
The newly appointed professor will be expected to contribute to management, research and teaching. Teaching will be at both the undergraduate (BSc) and the graduate (MSc) level and will range from first-year tutorials to supervising MSc theses. Research of the highest quality is expected, as witnessed by publications in the top journals for the relevant scientific fields and successful supervision of PhD projects. Management will mainly concern the scientific and organisational tasks of the new Research Centre for Longevity Risk. The candidate will help to set out the intellectual course of the Centre and she/he will also serve as its figure head when it comes to the organisation of conferences, outreach to policymakers and participation in the public debate on strategies to deal with longevity risk.
What do we require
We look for highly-motivated candidates with outstanding management, research and teaching qualities in the relevant area. Candidates will be evaluated on their potential for and/or record of excellence in management, research and teaching. Good communication skills are essential and experience in collaborating with non-academic professionals is highly appreciated. The FEB has a strong desire to appoint more female full professors.
The Appointment will be on a permanent basis. Initial salary is between €5,843 and €10,272 gross per month (+16.3% holiday and end-year payments). This is based on 38 hours per week and in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. The UvA offers a very attractive pension scheme. The university has generous provisions for parental leave.
Candidates from outside the Netherlands may be eligible for substantial income tax benefits for a limited period. The intended start date is 1 November 2021, or another date to be reached by mutual agreement.
