The Amsterdam School of Economics has a vacancy for a Professor of Economics of Taxation who will be expected to take over the tasks as organisor of the relevant curricula and as Head of Section from the current Professor when he retires in 2022.
Candidates are expected to contribute to teaching, management and for a limited part of the time to research. Teaching will be at both the undergraduate (BSc) and the graduate (MSc) level and will range from first-year tutorials to supervising MSc theses. Management will mainly concern the management tasks related to the leadership of the Section, such as management of human resources and budgetary responsibility. Proficiency in Dutch is required, because a substantial part of teaching will be in Dutch.
Highly-motivated candidates with outstanding teaching qualities in the area of Economics of Taxation and proven management qualities are welcome to apply. Candidates will be evaluated on their potential for and/or record of excellence in teaching and management. Visibility in terms of research activity and visibility in the public debate on tax policies will be an asset.
The employment contract will be on a permanent basis. There is a preference for a full-time contract, but we are open to the possibility of a smaller one. However, the employment contract should be sufficiently substantial for the new hire to fulfil the tasks described.
Initial salary is between €5,749 and €10,106 gross per month (+16.3% holiday and end-year payments). This is based on 38 hours per week and in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. The UvA offers a very attractive pension scheme. The university has generous provisions for parental leave.
The intended start date is as soon as possible.
