Functieomschrijving

The Amsterdam Business School (ABS) has a vacancy for a PhD candidate in Hospital Efficiency.

This project will be about the efficiency of the operation of hospitals. It involves studying patient flow in hospitals comprising: capacity management, admission policies and the use of modern IT techniques. A central theme will be to compare hospitals that are organized around diseases, by means of clinical pathways, to traditional hospital layouts.

Functie-eisen

We seek a highly motivated student with excellent grades in operations research and/or queuing theory and well-developed skills in computer programming. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in operations research, mathematics, econometrics, or equivalent.

Conditions

The appointment will be for a period of 4 years, with an intermediate evaluation after 18 months, resulting in a PhD thesis. An educational plan will be drafted that includes attendance of courses and (international) conferences. The PhD candidate is also expected to assist in undergraduate teaching.

The gross monthly salary will range from €2,222 in the first year to €2,840 in the last year. The Collective Labour Agreement (cao) for Dutch Universities is applicable.
