The Korteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics (KdVI) of the University of Amsterdam invites you to apply for a 2-year postdoc position. You will carry out research within the framework of the NWO cluster project 'Harmonic analysis on affine symmetric spaces and boundary correlation functions' of Jasper Stokman and Nicolai Reshetikhin.
What are you going to do?
You will perform research in the representation theory group at KdVI. This group consists of Eric Opdam, Nicolai Reshetikhin and Jasper Stokman, together with their PhD students and postdocs. We are seeking a candidate with an expertise in harmonic analysis on reductive or loop groups, and/or representation theory of quantum groups. Knowledge of classical and quantum integrable systems will be very useful.
For a small part of your appointment (around 10%) you will also be involved in teaching (in English). An appropriate travel budget will be provided for research visits, for attending conferences and for presenting relevant publications.
- A PhD in Mathematics;
- research experience in representation theory and/or integrable systems;
- fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Experience in teaching is a plus.
A temporary contract for 38 hours per week, preferably starting at 1 September 2020 for the duration of 24 months.
The salary, depending on relevant experience before the beginning of the employment contract, will be €2,709 to €4,274 (scale 10) gross per month, based on full-time employment (38 hours a week). These amounts are exclusive 8 % holiday allowance and 8,3 % end-of-year bonus. A favorable tax agreement, the ‘30% ruling’, may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable.
