We invite applications for a post-doctoral position of 1 year, with possible extension by 1 extra year, based at the Laboratory of Biophysics at Wageningen University (WU), and integrated within the Dutch National uNMR-NL consortium. The position is part of a recently-granted investment of the Dutch Science Foundation (NWO) in "The uNMR-NL Grid: A distributed, state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance facility for the Netherlands", with core partners at Utrecht University (UU), Radboud University (RU) Nijmegen, Leiden University (LU), and WU together with the public-private organisation COAST.
The challenging scope of this post-doc position is the implementation of MRI hardware (microcoils, probeheads) and optimization of MRI pulse sequences for high-to-ultra-high field (600-1200 MHz) applications of microimaging to microfluidics, in collaboration with RU. This position will cover both technical developments in the field of flow MRI and related application support, also across the consortium, with particular focus on troubleshooting and optimizing experimental conditions for NMR microimaging measurements at ultra-high magnetic fields. The work will be carried out using a new WB 600 MHz spectrometer to be installed at WU in 2021, a SB 950 MHz spectrometer to be relocated at RU, and a new 1.2 GHz spectrometer to be installed at UU in early 2021. As post-doc, you will be embedded in the MAGNEFY facility and based at the Laboratory of Biophysics of WU. At the same time, you are expected to be in regular contact with, and work at, Radboud University, as well as to cooperate with other post-docs deployed within the uNMR-NL consortium.
The position is intended to be filled by the end of 2021.
You are an ambitious and enthusiastic scientist. Your profile should signal:
- A PhD degree in an NMR/MRI-related field with experience working with pulse sequence development and implementation;
- research experience and familiarity with dynamic micro-imaging of materials;
- a strong motivation to work flexibly and creatively in a cross-disciplinary environment;
- very good communications skills and ability to interact constructively with physicists, chemists, engineers and technicians;
- a good command of the English language.
