As scientist Crop Bioinformatics, you will contribute to mine existing whole genome resequencing collections, develop novel de novo genome assemblies, and contribute to the concept of pangenomics in crops of the Brassica family (broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, kohlrabi) and others, in close collaboration with colleagues who are crop specialists. Outcomes of the research will be used to understand genome evolution and the domestication of crops, the effects of polyploidy, and (suppression of) recombination. Hypothesis generated by the computational exploration will be validated by producing experimental populations. You will work in a team of five bioinformatic professionals within Plant Breeding.
We are looking for an ambitious and creative scientist with a MSc degree with experience in crop bioinformatics, or a PhD. A background in whole-(pan) genome analysis and third generation genomic technologies is an advantage. Your personal traits include advanced programming skills (preferably in python).
