Are you interested in ecological research and education? Do you like to help teach BSc and MSc students and assist PhD students and staff members with their research? Then we invite you to apply to become technical assistant in our team!

At the Plant Ecology and Nature Conservation group, technical assistants support the logistics and planning of research and teaching activities and assist with research in the field, greenhouse and lab. We are currently looking for a self-directed, responsible person who can work independently, who likes to be involved in scientific research and who likes to solve practical problems with limited resources. We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude and a flexible mindset as the position involves a variety of work environments, activities and collaboration with people from different backgrounds.


  • a degree at a University (MSc) or Applied university in ecology, or a related discipline received less than 5 years ago;
  • a team player who can also work well independently;
  • effective communication skills in Dutch and English;
  • a flexible and practical mind-set;
  • a solution oriented attitude;
  • strong organisation- and planning skills;
  • strong computer skills (R, ArcGIS, working with large data sets);
  • experience in working outdoors;
  • experience with teaching (groups);
  • possession of a drivers' licence

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €2.656,- and €4.012 for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). Initially, you will receive a temporary appointment for 1 year and, in case of good performance, a permanent appointment.
