Gouden Gasten zoekt in opdracht van Rijksakademie naar een Lid van de Raad van Toezicht.

De RvT bestaat uit ervaren professionals met een bewezen staat van dienst, passie voor kunst en cultuur en de nodige expertise op het gebied van governance en strategie. De leden zijn in staat om onafhankelijk en kritisch toezicht te houden en fungeren als klankbord voor de directeur en het management.

Over de Rijksakademie
De Rijksakademie biedt een tweejarig residentieprogramma aan ongeveer vijftig kunstenaars van over de hele wereld. Het programma ondersteunt artistieke ontwikkeling door ruimte te bieden voor onderzoek, experiment en productie van nieuw werk. Residents beschikken over een studio, een werkbudget en een stipendium, en werken in een dynamische omgeving met geavanceerde technische werkplaatsen, een breed scala aan artistieke advisors die professionals in het veld zijn, en een interdisciplinaire gemeenschap. Binnen dit internationale en diverse ecosysteem hebben kunstenaars de vrijheid om te werken en te experimenteren zonder een vast curriculum.

De Rijksakademie onderscheidt zich als een platform voor artistieke innovatie en reflectie. De instelling speelt een cruciale rol in het culturele ecosysteem en biedt kunstenaars de kans om zich te ontwikkelen en te verbinden met een internationaal netwerk. Alumni zijn vertegenwoordigd in vooraanstaande musea, biënnales en artistieke initiatieven over de hele wereld.

Opgericht in 1870, heeft de Rijksakademie zich ontwikkeld tot een internationaal toonaangevende residency. Oorspronkelijk functioneerde het als een klassieke academie en leidde kunstenaars op zoals Piet Mondriaan, Karel Appel en Constant. In de jaren '80 werd de koers verlegd en werd het een artistiek laboratorium waarin studio's, technisch onderzoek en kritische dialoog met advisors centraal staan.

Over de Raad van Toezicht
De Raad van Toezicht (RvT) bestaat uit 4 leden. Het voorzitterschap is verdeeld over 2 leden.

De RvT ziet toe op het beleid en functioneren van de Rijksakademie en biedt strategisch advies aan de directeur en het management. De RvT bewaakt de missie, waarden en financiële stabiliteit van de organisatie en draagt bij aan een duurzaam toekomstperspectief. De RvT vergadert meerdere keren per jaar en heeft daarnaast informele bijeenkomsten en commissie verantwoordelijkheden. Leden van de RvT zijn actief betrokken, hebben een sterke affiniteit met de kunstsector en beschikken over bestuurlijke ervaring.

Wij zoeken een toezichthouder die:

• Ervaring heeft met bestuurlijke en strategische vraagstukken binnen de culturele sector.
• Begrip heeft van de politieke en bestuurlijke dynamiek rondom kunst en cultuur zowel nationaal als internationaal.
• Uitgebreide kennis heeft van de hedendaagse kunstwereld.
• In staat is om onafhankelijk en kritisch mee te denken over de koers van de Rijksakademie.
• Een verbindende en analytische denker is, met oog voor governance en organisatieontwikkeling.

Expertise en ervaring

• Ervaring binnen de hedendaagse kunstsector en culturele instellingen.
• Een breed en relevant netwerk binnen de kunstwereld en/of de publieke sector.
• Kennis van bestuurlijke processen, governance en strategische besluitvorming.
• Politiek-bestuurlijke sensitiviteit en inzicht in financiering en beleid van culturele organisaties.
• Ervaring met complexe organisaties en het vermogen om op afstand toezicht te houden.
• Een diepgaand begrip van de Nederlandse en internationale culturele context.

About the Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board consists of 4 members, with the chairmanship co-chaired between two members. The Supervisory Board monitors the policies and operations of the Rijksakademie while providing strategic counsel to the management. It safeguards the institution's mission, values, and financial stability while contributing to a sustainable long-term vision. The board meets multiple times a year and also participates in informal gatherings and committee responsibilities. Members of the Supervisory Board are actively engaged, have a strong affinity with the arts sector, and possess governance experience. The board is composed of seasoned professionals with a proven track record, a deep passion for art and culture, and expertise in governance and strategy. They ensure independent and critical oversight while serving as a sounding board for the management. The chair and members of the Supervisory Board do not receive financial compensation for their role.

• Has experience with governance and strategic issues within the cultural sector.
