About the position
In this position you will develop, in a team, novel imaging technology and analysis methods, mostly for various forms of CT imaging (CT, CBCT, spectral CT and we are considering preclinical phase-contrast x-ray imaging if we can obtain funding for this particular topic). The imaging information is either used as input for treatment planning and dose calculation, or for treatment verification purposes. You may be involved in working with images of cancer patients, or preclinical animals (rodents). Artificial intelligence methods such as deep learning will be a significant part of the projects. Your role will be to develop CT image analysis software for various purposes, help develop novel CT imaging equipment, perform dose calculations and conduct experiments. There will be close collaboration with partnering companies and hospitals in the research consortium.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a post-doc researcher with a proven track record in radiation physics, radiation engineering, biomedical engineering or imaging science. Advanced computer programming skills are an absolute must. Ideally, you have knowledge of hardware system development. Our new team member should be a dynamic co-worker, have a strong PhD degree with an interest in biomedical research. You should be willing to work in a highly motivated team of physicists and physicians. Although you will work in a close team, you should also be able to work independently. You should be willing to relocate to the Maastricht region of the Netherlands (which is also close to Germany and Belgium).You are fluent in English (written and spoken, better than IELTS 7, or equivalent). Knowledge of the Dutch language is not a requirement, but acquiring a basic knowledge is encouraged.
What does Maastro offer you?
We offer you a fulltime contract (36 hours/week) for an initial period of one year, which in case of a successful evaluation may be extended for several years. The Collective Labor Agreement for Hospitals (“CAO Ziekenhuizen”) applies. Your salary will be according to the salary scale FWG 60 (min. € 3.322,- max. € 4.798,- gross/month). Furthermore, you will receive a 8.33% holiday allowance and 8.33% end-of-year bonus.
