Functieomschrijving

The department of Clinical Psychological Science, section Experimental Health Psychology, has a 0.7 vacancy for the function of assistant professor.

As assistant professor, you will devote 60% of your time to research and 40% to teaching. Your research interest and expertise should fit within the research lines of the Experimental Health Psychology section. Current lines of research are: pain, sexual (dys)functioning, and tinnitus (see: http://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/fpn/ehp).

The remaining 40% is devoted to teaching in relevant bachelor and master programs of the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience and in the mental health program of the Faculty of Health Medicine and Life Sciences. Guiding students in writing their bachelor or master thesis is also an important part of your educational work.

Functie-eisen

  • You have a master degree in Psychology and have acquired a Ph.D. title in an area relevant for the current position
  • You have very good research qualities as evidenced by a strong publication track-record.
  • You are capable of initiating and maintaining your own research line
  • You have good educational competencies and skills, and preferably already possess a BKO certification

Conditions

Initially, candidates are employed on a temporary contract as assistant professor (level 2) and agree to specific development goals. Five years into the appointment, candidates will be evaluated and if the development goals have been met, promoted to assistant professor (level 1) on a permanent contract. The evaluation can be brought forward if criteria are met earlier. On the candidate’s request the evaluation can be deferred in case of special personal circumstances, such as pregnancy leave, parental leave or chronic illness.
