The division of Pharmacology has a vacancy for a Postdoc position within the NWO-funded project ‘Maternal immune activation during pregnancy – a dietary intervention to restore immune fitness in the offspring’ . The postdoc will work on this project together with two graduate students. The project is performed in close collaboration with the project partners at UMC Groningen (Dr T. Plösch) and Nutricia Research (Mrs. dr M. Tiemessen). During this project the Postdoc will 1. Write a CCD application and optimize a model for maternal immune activation. 2. Test the hypothesis that a dietary intervention can protect against maternal immune activation-induced changes in immune fitness in the offspring. 3. Study mechanisms involved in maternal infection on immune fitness in early life. 4. Report results in one or two original research papers.
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD degree in Pharmacology, Biology or Medicine, with a focus on Immunology. The candidate should have a demonstrated strong interest in inter-disciplinary research, and a good publication record. Hands-on experience in experimental animal work is a prerequisite. Experience with immunological techniques is a valuable asset. The candidate should have the ambition and creativity to organize and perform complex in vivo studies and have the ability to quickly learn new techniques. Since the candidate will work at the intersection of several research domains in different research groups, and together with two graduate students, (s)he should be a pro-active team player and have excellent social and communication skills. In addition, good English writing skills are required.
The candidate is offered a 0.8 - 1.0 FTE position for 3 years. Salary ranges between €3,044 and €3,425 (scale 10 Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) gross per month for a full-time employment. The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. In addition we offer: a pension scheme, a partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions. Conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities.
